Actress Lindsay Lohan today declined a plea deal proposed by prosecutors that would have guranteed her a trip to jail.
The "Mean Girls" actress showed up in a Los Angeles court today and told a judge she agreed to holding up her case until a preliminary hearing while prosecutors will deliver evidence against her. A preliminary hearing for the case will be set on April 22. Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz reminded Lohan he would send her to the slammer if she took a plea deal provided by prosecutors.
The precise terms of the deal weren't revealed. Lohan has pleaded not guilty to stealing a $2,500 necklace from Kamofie & Co, a jewelry store near Lohan's Venice home. The jewelry store reported the item stolen on January 22, approximately 3 weeks after Lohan had been discharged from rehab at the Betty Ford Center.
